This week Will is bringing you some old songs and some new, in a Wednesday playlist that you can't help but sing along to.
Reef - Place Your Hands
This English band from Glastonbury first started in 1993 but gained commercial success during their ’94 and ’95 tours were they supported Paul Weller, The Rolling Stones and Soundgarden.
Black Lips - Bad Kids
Garage rock band from Atlanta, Georgia are one of the bands on this list who I’ve only just discovered. The lyrics in the hook for this song relate to the implied caste systems that exist within the American children’s social groups.
Xylos – Summerlong
The one thing that comes to mind whenever anyone mentions the band Xylos to me is when is 2012 they were involved in claims that their self-titled album was their way of portraying themselves as a “gay band”. The group told the Huffington Post in an article that they didn’t intend to come out through their album photo.
Friendly Fires - Hawaiian Air
Another English indie rock band, Friendly Fires met at St Albans School when they were 13. Their most recent work include collaborations with Job Brooks under the name The Pattern Forms.
Gold Fields - Dark Again
This Australian pop outfit describe themselves on their website as making, “'80s new wave-influenced dance-pop.” They have had huge support from national community radio broadcaster Triple J, and subsequently have played all around Australia, America and have performed in London.
Miley Cyrus - "Wrecking Ball" Cover by Our Last Night
Taking a trip back to my high school days with American rock band Our Last Night. Early in their career they made some quite heavy music which slightly changed over time with the release of their Summer of Covers EP which brought them into the mainstream.
