With some bands you might not have heard before and some new up and coming talent Will has put together a playlist that we all hope you enjoy!
Hippo Campus - Violet
This indie rock band from Minnesota formed in 2013 after meeting at Sain Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, where most of the band attended high school. Their first full-length album, Landmark, was released on February of this year to support their international tour.
Strawhatz - Koto
This group of performers, started by Quick Style, blend their culture and forms of urban art creating a unique style that shines through in their music and performances.
Mystery Jets - Bubblegum
The second indie band on this list are from London, specifically Eel Pie Island in Twickenham. Now based in East London, the band have a new album out and have also announced they will be joining The Maccabees on their farewell show this summer.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "Multi-Love"
From Portland, Oregon Unknown Mortal Orchestra are one of my favourite rock bands right now. In a recent interview with singer, guitarist and songwriter Ruban Nielson, he said that the song wasn’t “Not some hippie bullshit, but a hard-edged, cynical, and sharp kind of love.”
Beirut - Santa Fe
Originally a solo project of Zach Condon’s, Beirut is an American band which combines elements of indie-rock and world music. Despite their name, the band hadn’t performed in Lebanon until eight years into their career.
Only Real - Can't Get Happy
Niall Galvin has been described by some as bringing ‘the sunshine of the Beach Boys and Atlanta-based rappers to south London’. He prefers to think of himself however as “Fun, honest and catchy. A bit weird but hopefully quite accessible.”
