This week Will’s Wednesday playlist consists of a pick of his favourite, craziest rock stars. We hope you enjoy but don’t forget to tell us what you think over on our Twitter or Facebook.
Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train: LIVE Randy Rhoads
One of the most controversial figures in music history, Ozzy Osbourne stands out from the crowd. Selling over 100 million albums, experimenting with a variety of substances for most of his life, and being involved with two separate incidents involving biting off the head of an animal it isn’t difficult to understand why he gets a place on this list.
The Rolling Stones (Keith Richards) - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
As part of the Rolling Stone, Keith Richards is known as one of the most talented guitarists in music history. Selling over 200 million records, the singer was once asked by a reporter what the strangest thing he ever snorted was. His answer was his cremated father, he was reported saying “I snorted my father. He was cremated and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn’t have cared. It went down pretty well, and I’m still alive.”
Mötley Crüe (Nikki Sixx) - Kickstart My Heart
Boasting loud music, sex, drugs and wild parties these notorious party animals were fronted by Nikki Sixx. Some stories from Nikki’s life include when he overdosed on heroin at a drug dealer’s house, who attempted to beat the life back into him with a bat. After unsuccessfully doing so, his body was dumped in some nearby trash. This is however not uncommon for Nikki who has estimated overdoing on heroin “about half a dozen times.”
Frank Zappa - COSMIK DEBRIS
Son of an extremely intelligent chemist/mathematician who worked with the US defence program, Frank Zappa arguably had a significant impact on musical freedom. Surviving multiple injuries whilst performing he believed for some time someone was trying to murder him. His lyrics criticised society and were used as a comment on the music industry itself.
The Doors (Jim Morrison) - Riders on the Storm
With an I.Q. of 149, Jim Morrison was certainly one of the most charismatic performers in rock music history. When The Doors performed at the New Haven Arena in Connecticut on December 9, 1967 Morrison was arrested by local police. He became the first rock star to be taken off stage during a live performance, which sparked a riot that spilled into the streets.
