This Monday, especially for the inner child in my 21 year-old self, this is a major throwback kind of playlist. So what I’m trying to say is, you guys are lucky enough to journey through my childhood with me, how lucky are you?
Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This
The kids loved him, the teens raved to him and the mum’s just fancied the pants of him. It’s quite sad that we don’t seem to hear of Mr Bedingfield anymore. He smashed the charts back in 2001 with this classic, reaching number 1 in both 2001 and 2002 when his debut album was released with the tune on. He features this week as a major throwback to help you beat those Monday blues. He now lives in New Zealand, where he was born, and has founded his own charity combatting slavery… Could he be more perfect?
S Club 7- Don’t Stop Movin’
You’d be lying if you said that you didn’t dance around to S Club 7 on the radio or get excited when they were introduced as the next track to be played. So, just because this was in the 00s, don’t let that stop you today. This was one of the biggest songs of the year back in 2001 and even won ITV Record of the Year. The chandelier that features in the video nearly crushed both Bradley and Tina after it fell down during filming while the two were side stepping in their dance routine. Lucky escape!
R Kelly – Ignition (Remix)
If you don’t know this absolute belter of a song then have you really lived? You can’t escape it on a night out, as it seems to be every club's ‘go-to’, and why not? Its guaranteed everyone will get up and go mental as soon as the first note kicks in. Keep your chin up this Monday, hey, maybe you’ll end up out in the town listening in the club tonight. Even if it is a school night…
Sean Kingston – Party All Night (Sleep All Day)
The MySpace sensation that is Kisean Anderson could easily increase the madness in anyone’s Monday, whether it be this tune or any of his other compositions. His stage alias, Sean Kingston, was created after he spent time in jail in Kingston, Jamaica. He obviously saw this as a significant part of his life and chose to share it with the world. He’s brought us some absolute wonders and this song is no exception - isn’t the premise of this song everyone’s weekly #goals? If we could just sleep through our Mondays and go crazy in the eve, then life would be truly perfect.
Scissor Sisters - I Don’t Feel Like Dancing
In the Brit Awards 2007 magazine, lead singer Jake Shears called this "The happiest-sounding song ever written about staying in and feeling miserable." So turn that frown upside down and realised that Mondays do not defeat you!
