Get your dancing shoes on in prep for a wild Saturday tonight. This week's playlist is filled with all the best indie hits to lighten up your Saturday in time for a great night out.
The Kooks - Naive
Naive was released in 2006 from their debut studio album Inside In/Inside Out. The single is the band's best selling song and peaked at number five in the UK charts. Several artists have covered this indie anthem, but none have matched up to The Kooks success.
The Arctic Monkeys - Dancing Shoes
This track was featured on their debut album, which became the fastest selling debut albums at the time. Dancing Shoes is a must-have on your indie pre-drinks playlist and will no doubt get you up and dancing.
The Wombats - Let's Dance To The Joy Division
Written by lead singer Matthew Murphy, the single was based on a night out he had with his girlfriend where he danced on tables to the Joy Division. The song was also featured BBC Three programme Scallywagga as the theme tune.
Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know
Despite not doing very well in the UK charts, the single was used for the 2012 Microsoft Office advert. It was released in 2011, but will have you in the mood for partying within the first few beats of the song.
After debuting in the charts at number 33 Elvis Ain't Dead crept up to number eight and was the band's second top ten single in the UK charts. The final line in the music video for this single features one of Elvis' most famous lines: "Elvis has left the building. Thank you and goodnight."
If this isn't THE indie anthem then I don't know what is. Mr Brightside is The Killers most successful song and is one of the top 15 most downloaded tracks in the UK ever. The single is guaranteed to get everyone singing at the top of their lungs.
The Vaccines - Post Break-Up Sex
This single was not very successful in the UK charts as it spent only one week in the UK Top 40. It did, however, receive great critical reception from Jon Davies of Shazamers' Blog: "Post Break-Up Sex is a great slice of fuzzy guitar driven pop."
The Courteeners - Not Nineteen Forever
Not Nineteen Forever is the band's most successful single peaking at number 19. The single is about a girlfriend preaching to her younger boyfriend asking him to grow up and get his life together. However, he decides going out and chasing after another girl is a better idea.
