The results are in. The BBC Sound of 2017 has announced the artists that are going to make it big over the next 12 months voted for by 170 DJs, music critics, radio producers and writers. We’ve got a full rundown of the top five for you right here.

Young UK rapper Nadia Rose has taken fifth place on the BBC's Sound of 2017 list, which showcases emerging artists for the coming 12 months.

The 23-year-old, who has won praise for her whip-cracking, witty wordplay, hails from Croydon and is the cousin of grime artist Stormzy.

Rose, who began making music in her spare time while working in a betting shop, has scored viral hits with songs like Skwod and Tight Up.[if gte vml 1]><o:wrapblock><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"></v:path> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="officeArt_x0020_object" o:spid="_x0000_s1026" type="#_x0000_t75" style='position:absolute;margin-left:72.5pt;margin-top:17.5pt; width:335.95pt;height:271.65pt;z-index:251659264;visibility:visible; mso-wrap-style:square;mso-wrap-distance-left:12pt;mso-wrap-distance-top:12pt; mso-wrap-distance-right:12pt;mso-wrap-distance-bottom:12pt; mso-position-horizontal:absolute;mso-position-horizontal-relative:margin; mso-position-vertical:absolute;mso-position-vertical-relative:line' strokeweight="1pt"> <v:stroke miterlimit="4"></v:stroke> <v:imagedata src="file://localhost/Users/lizziewannell/Library/Group%20Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.png" o:title=""></v:imagedata> <w:wrap type="topAndBottom" anchorx="margin" anchory="line"></w:wrap> </v:shape><![endif][if !vml]

Nadia Rose - Skwod

In at number four is 19-year-old R'n'B singer Jorja Smith from Walsall. The youngster put her first single Blue Lights on SoundCloud in January last year.

Smith received shout outs from the R'n'B king himself, Drake, as well as Stormzy and Skrillex after racking up over 100,000 plays on the single.

The teenager has turned down several offers from major record labels to pursue an independent music career.

3. RAYE

Gaining third place in this year's Sound of awards is RAYE, a young singer/songwriter determined to make it big in the world of music.

She released her first EP while in the Brit School in 2014, which sparked interest from Years & Years.

Singer, Olly Alexander, helped the 18-year-old sign onto her first record deal and she has since gained more fans and featured in several big hits.

Runner up for this year's award is the rising star Rory Graham, aka Rag'n'Bone Man.

His most recent single, Human, has scored him number one in several European countries and a lot of publicity in the UK.

Graham has just finished supporting Tom Odell and is set to release his debut album later on this year.

Ray BLK, real name Rita Ekwere, is not only the winner of Sound of 2017, but she has also been nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2017 MOBO Awards.

Her passion for music came at the young age of 13 after forming a band with producer MNEK.

The 23-year-old secured a record of the week honour from BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens in 2015 for her single 5050.

Ekwere has been branded "the Lauryn Hill of the UK" and already collaborated with huge artists such as Stormzy, Wretch 32 and SG Lewis.
