Welcome to this week’s Feel Good Friday playlist. This week, we’ve got some 80s classics, some 90s throwbacks and some noughties gems. Time to feel good!
Timbuk 3 – Future’s So Bright
The first song on this week’s playlist is by the cleverly named Timbuk 3. The song documents the lead singer’s optimism for the future by saying that his futures so bright he’s gotta wear shades. An underrated feel-good gem, this track is the perfect way to start your Friday.
Blur – There’s No Other Way
There definitely isn’t any other way to kick off your Friday than this feel-good track. Capturing the carefree and cool sound of the nineties, but still remaining a timeless classic, this awesome Blur single will have you smiling all weekend.
Jet – Are You Gonna Be My Girl
This Indie gem can’t help but make you smile. Coming from Aussie Rock band Jet, this noughties classic is a sure-bet for making you feel good. The song gained world wide fame after being featured in the iconic ads for the third generation iPod, but to be honest, the song is so good, it would have probably done just as well with or without Steve Jobs.
Barenaked Ladies – One Week
Made famous by the 90’s classic movie American Pie, this half-sung half-rapped track could have probably only got away with its odd lyrics and weird video on the other side of the year 2000. That aside, this tune is guaranteed to make you smile.
Will Smith – Will 2-k
This ever so slightly dated new years track from the Fresh Prince himself celebrates its 17th birthday this January. It’s a little corny and very 90s, with a high-budget video and plenty of out-dated references. But hey, it is definitely feel-good, and new years is just about the only time you can get away with listening to it!
