James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover

Yes, 2016 has been the absolute worst. We lost Bowie, Prince, Rickman, Harambe and many others while politics has been a funfair of nonsense. Well at least James Blunt has a sense of humour about it all. The comedic genius racked up thousands of favourites and retweets today after he posted:

"If you thought 2016 was bad - I'm releasing an album in 2017." Say what you will about the man, but he's so self-aware he probably beat you to it.

Adele - Hello

What a year has been for this London born and bred singer. Adele has rounded off an intense year by achieving the BBC double, picking up the awards for both best album and song of 2016. She was unable to attend, but said: "It's been a long year on the road and this makes me feel a little less homesick."

Ed Sheeran - Photograph

Has the musician's year-long social media come to an end? Fairly amazingly (for a celebrity) Ed was able to stick to his word when he said he was going cold turkey. So when that silence was broken, the whole of Twitter went into a feeding-frenzy, buzzing with the speculation that new tunes could be on the way.

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling - City of Stars

And the Golden Globe nominations are in. In the running for Best Original Score is La La Land, starring the dynamic duo who made their big screen duo-debut in Crazy, Stupid, Love. La La Land's theme song features the two actors and it is simply breathtaking.

Madonna - Vogue

When Madonna was accepting her Woman of the Year award from Billboard, she made a series of scathing comments about the music industry. "Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse." Ouch.
