The weekend is nearly over, but start the week with some smooth tunes...
Frank Ocean – Pink + White
Frank Ocean released his much awaited album in August this year. The hype for his album
was so high after his awarding winning album, Channel Orange, which was released in 2012.
Pink + White is possibly one the best song on his new album – with some incredibly heartfelt
lyrics. Ocean seems to be talking to someone about a previous relationship, but instead of
expressing his sadness the love has ended, he is thankful for the high the experience gave him. Sadly this song does not have a video just yet.
The Weeknd and Daft Punk - I Feel It Coming
The Weeknd has blessed us all with yet another collaboration with Daft Punk. He sings about
wanting more from a one night stand he had and trying to prove to the girl he can be more
than just another guy. This is The Weeknd’s second song from his new album, Starboy, due to come out November 25.
James Arthur – Say You Won’t Let Go
James Arthur has finally risen from the darkness after re-signing with Syco in early 2016. His
new song Say You Won’t Let Go reached number one in UK charts shortly after it was made
available for digital download. He remained there for 3 consecutive weeks making his the
only male winner of X Factor to have another chart topping single.
Starving is Hailee Steinfeld’s newest song, which reached number 5 in UK charts. However,
Steinfeld has never hidden her many talents, as she has starred in several films, such as
Romeo and Juliet and was even cast as Emily in smash hit comedy musical, Pitch Perfect 2.
Steinfeld has even been announced to star in the third film in 2017.
Andy Grammer – Fresh Eyes
Many people have fallen in love with this song because of its beautiful message. Andy
Grammer was inspired to write this song by his wife and their happy marriage of four years.
In the song he sings about how he’s fallen in love with his wife all over again and he has the
same intense love for her as he did when they began their life together.
Chris Brown – Grass Ain’t Greener
This song is on the other end of the spectrum as opposed to all the other songs in this
playlist. Chris Brown tells a story of how his relationship has crumbled after she has done
what he did with her in a previous relationship i.e create a very complicated love triangle.
Many fans believe that Brown is throwing shade at his previous girlfriend, Karrueche.
Despite the sombre tone of this song, it quickly became trending on Twitter with the
hashtag #grassaintgreener just hours after he revealed it to his fans on his birthday, May 5.
Post Malone – White Iverson
While the lyrics might not make a huge amount of sense, it is undeniable that this song is
catchy and an incredibly hit. In this song, Post Malone suggests he is one of the best and
needs to be watched. He calls himself “White Iverson”, hinting that he is the Allen Iverson –
a world famous basketball player – of the rap world.
