My, oh my is this a topical day to be alive...
Election day is finally here, we're still unsure if this is a good thing. In just a few hours time we'll know which of the US' most hated candidates will be sitting in the Oval Office for the next four years.
This week's topical Tuesday will feature the best of the 30 Days, 50 Songs campaign against Donald Trump. The campaign originally began life with 30 songs but artists were all too willing to contribute to the cause. Listen to all of them right here.
Bob Mould - In a Free Land
"This song was released in 1982, and it feels just as applicable today. Things can be changed by just making a few people wake up. One way to do that is to kick 'em in the face, like we try to do with our music. If they feel threatened enough, they'll respond"
Jimmy Eat World - My Enemy
"That candidate used the low-hanging fruit of fear mongering to gain his initial momentum and continues to employ variations of it to sustain his place."
R.E.M. - World Leader Pretend
The world conscious band simply said: "A perfect song for these strange times."
Franz Ferdinand - Demagogue
Demagogue definition: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument. Seems fitting.
Death Cab for Cutie - Million Dollar Loan
Sean Hannity on FOX News: "Now Donald, have you heard the new song written about you by the indie rock band, Death Cab For Cutie?"
Donald Trump: "I haven't but I hear it's terrible. Just a terrible, terrible song. Nobody I know has ever heard of these guys because they have no talent. Absolutely no talent. Small potatoes if you ask me. And that band name? What a bunch of losers. Bad!"
Well we think it's pretty good.
